Seoul has announced plans to install more LED


Recently, the south Korean capital Seoul has announced plans to invest to install more LED lamps and lanterns in public places, and to encourage the private sector to further expanding the scope of the installation. Public places, such as subway stations and streets, plan to the city government offices, 2018 all use of LED lighting.Governmentin is in the hope to reduce energy consumption and aid the LED lighting industry.

Seoul government also said it plans to expand to the private sector 2030,and estimates that about 800000 LED lights will be installed in the public sector before 2014.In addition there will be 70000 installed in the private sector.According to Seoul's estimate, this will save every year the city electric power 1.1 million mw or 120 billion Korean won ($105 million). The city also plans to set up in 2014 a 1.32 million lamp energy saving street lamp intelligent lighting grid. In order to encourage the private sector installation, the city will provide a maximum of 1 billion won ($870000) interest rate of 2.5% of the loan program.
